Rebel Pledge

We are facing the breakdown of our planet’s natural life-support systems, climate collapse, and runaway global heating. We love this world and the beings in it, and resolve to work together to save my family, my community, my nation, and all living things from suffering and destruction.

We can no longer rely only on the strategies that have failed to avert climate catastrophe over the last 30 years, including emphasis on personal lifestyle changes and working for incremental improvements within our current political system. Our time is running out.

Our governments will be compelled to take appropriate action only when vast numbers of ordinary Americans - from all walks of life - participate in strategic, nonviolent, disruptive mass civil disobedience.

In order to succeed, our Rebellion for Life will:

Be conducted with strict nonviolent discipline
Embody respect for all people, because the problem is our toxic system and no one individual is to blame
Target our governments, because only government has the power to make the immediate and profound changes required for our survival
Be radically inclusive; we must refuse to let our differences divide us, and everyone has the right to fight for their lives.
